Advisory Board members contribute to both the trainings provided by the platform and the creation of informative contents.

Prof. Dr. Emine Akalın

Pharmaceutical Botany, Istanbul University

Emine Akalın is the Head of the Pharmaceutical Botany Department and the Coordinator of Phytopharmacy Specialist Training Programme at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Istanbul University. She continued her academic career in the same department after she graduated from IU Faculty of Pharmacy and has served as the dean and vice dean at IU Faculty of Pharmacy. Akalın also works as a member of EUKMOS in order to establish the foundations of the field of “Phytopharmacy”, one of the areas of expertise in pharmacy.

Prof. Dr. Ayten Altıntaş

Prof. Dr. Ayten Altıntaş

Medical History and Deontology, Medipol University

After completing her undergraduate studies at Istanbul University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ayten Altıntaş started working at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Department of Medical History and Deontology and became a professor in 1996. After 37 years at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, she continues her studies at Medipol University Faculty of Medicine, Department of History of Medicine and Ethics. Prof. Dr. Ayten Altıntaş primarily conducts her research in the field of Turkish medical history especially in topics such as Ottoman medicine, the history of smell and fragrance culture in the Ottoman Empire and significance of scented rose for treatment. Apart from her lecture notes on Medical History and Ethics, she has 240 papers and 9 books.

Doç. Dr. Tufan Cansever

Neurosurgery, Energy Medicine, Turkey

After graduating from Istanbul Erkek High School and Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine he completed his residency in Brain and Nerve Surgery at the same faculty between 2000-2006. Tufan Cansever became an associate professor at Başkent University Istanbul Hospital in 2012. He started his complementary medicine training in 2013 with bioenergy. He is a member of the Turkish Neurosurgical Association (TND) and Turkish Spine Association (TOD). Dr. Tufan Cansever has many articles published in international refereed journals.

Prof. Dr. Gökalp İşcan

Prof. Dr. Gökalp İşcan

Pharmacognosy, Anadolu University

Gökalp İşcan graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology and is currently a faculty member at the Pharmacognosy Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the same university. He has published over 50 research articles and 70 conference proceedings. He has been involved in research projects as a manager, consultant and researcher. Chemistry of natural substances, microbial transformation reactions, essential oils, biology of natural compounds, quality control of herbal drugs, medicinal teas and pharmacopoeia analysis are among his research topics.

Prof. Dr. Murat Kartal

Prof. Dr. Murat Kartal

Pharmacognosy, Bezmialem Foundation University

Murat Kartal is a Faculty Member of the Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacognosy and Head of the Phytotherapy Education Research and Application Center at Bezmialem Foundation University. Medical plants, herbal products, herbal medicines, obtaining herbal raw materials, quality and licensing of herbal medicines are of special interest. He has given lectures and seminars at Turkey and abroad on aromatherapy, phytotherapy, phytocosmetics, natural medicines and natural products and pharmaceutical raw materials. He works in the Commissions in the Ministry of Health, and is the Vice President of the AROMADER Aromatherapy Association. He has conducted joint research projects at universities in Pakistan, the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic. He has published over 120 scientific articles, most of which are in international refereed journals.

Rhiannon Lewis

International Clinical Aromatherapy Network, France

Rhiannon Lewis, who has been working in the field of clinical aromatherapy since 1989, is recognized as a worldwide leader in her profession. Offering evidence-based aromatic solutions to the clinical challenges faced by life-threatening patients, Lewis achieves this by educating healthcare professionals in the use of essential oils in clinical settings. Rhiannon Lewis, whose special interests are to improve the quality of life in cancer, elderly care and palliative care is the Director of the International Clinical Aromatherapy Network (ICAN) and the organizer of the international "Botanica" conference series. Lewis, who has been the Director of Essential Oil Resource Consultants since 2000, is the editor of the International Journal of Clinical Aromatherapy and the organizer of the "Basic Principles of Clinical Aromatherapy" seminar series organized at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

Jacqui Stringer

Clinical & Research Lead, England

Jacqui Stringer graduated from Hull School of Nursing and University of York Psychology Department and earned a Diploma in Holistic Aromatherapy from Tisserand Institute. She has completed her PhD at University of Salford in 2005. Currently she is Clinical & Research Lead for the Complementary Health & Wellbeing services at The Christie NHS Trust; an acute cancer hospital in Manchester, UK, where she has been working clinically with essential oils since 1997. The role includes maintaining a clinical case load where essential oil preparations are used in conjunction with standard licensed medications to facilitate maximum healing/symptom support. In addition, Jacqui leads on her department’s research programme, gives lectures at Division of Cancer Sciences, University of Manchester and is an ambassador for the Airmid Institute.

Marco Valussi

Gadoi Project Scientific Director, Italy

Marco Valussi, who has been working on medicinal and aromatic plants for 20 years, is a educator, writer and consultant. Valussi, who has an educational background in agriculture completed his master's degree at Middlesex University of London with honors in Herbal Medicine and received his aromatherapy education at ITHMA (The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy). Valussi is currently the scientific director of the "Gadoi" distillation project in the mountainous regions near Verona in Italy. He is also working to raise standards to meet the demands of the EU and US markets, with another project aimed at improving Nepal's essential oil production chain. He continues to teach graduate students about essential oils at the University of Florence and Siena.

Prof. Dr. Funda Yağcı Acar

Faculty of Chemistry, Koç University

Funda Acar Yağcı completed her BSc and MSc studies at Boğaziçi University Chemistry Department and her PhD at Southern Mississippi University in the field of Polymer Science and Engineering. Then she worked as as a postdoctoral researcher at the GE Global Research Niskayuna Center. Funda Yağcı is a faculty member at Koç University Chemistry Department since 2004. Her research areas include novel polymers, magnetic nanoparticles, hybrid nano materials for biotechnology, medicine and energy applications.
